The GoHawkeye Foundation was so impressed with the equipment grant application submitted by Josh Hancock that we awarded him funds to help purchase a DynAccess sit ski and additionally requested that he attend the 16th Expand Your Horizon ski camp. The camp was held February 26 thru March 3, 2017 in Telluride, Colorado. The Telluride Adaptive Sports Program(TASP) organizes and host this annual event which caters to intermediate and advanced mono skiers. We knew that this camp was the perfect venue to teach new skills, bring Josh together with top mono skiers from around the country, and create challenges to inspire and improve his skiing.  TASP presents an incredible ski camp with outstanding instruction, lively camaraderie and outstanding accommodations.

We were delighted to meet Josh and have him experience Telluride for the first time. His skill with the sit ski was very impressive for only skiing two years, and his easy going polite manner to be admired.

The GoHawkeye crew especially liked his passion and determination to ski all terrain in all conditions and his willingness to learn. We think Josh will be a great ambassador for adaptive sports we’re extremely happy to help him along his path.

“My goal is to be able to sit-ski any terrain, in any conditions, with a smile on my face, just like I did before my injury. TASP’s Expand Your Horizon’s camp is all about helping you identify your goals, and putting you with talented instructors to help you achieve them. Having the Telluride Ski Area as your playground during the camp gives you everything you need to grow: steep terrain, bumps, screaming fast groomers, and when you get lucky like we were, lots of light fluffy pow. Getting to and paying for a camp like this isn’t cheap, and neither is life with physical disabilities. Thanks to the support I got from GoHawkeye I was able to attend this camp, have lots of fun, and make big strides in my skiing ability. And, most importantly, to make new friends and learn from new people. Thanks Hawkeye for giving me this opportunity”, wrote Josh.
