Kidz off-road handcycles delivered

The GoHawkeye Foundation has delivered Wildcat youth handcycles to the Oregon Adaptive Sports(OAS) and Teton Adaptive Sports(TAS) organizations. These are the first kid handcycles ever produced by ReActive Adaptations located in Crested Butte , CO. The Wildcat has a wide range of seat and crankset adjustments that will accommodate any size child. In addition, combined with a SRAM 1-3 internal hub and 20″ Maxxis tires, this all terrain handcycle will allow a young “wildcat” to rip on mountain bike trails as well as bike paths and dirt roads.

The best thing about providing these bikes for kids is that they were paid for by kids! The GoHawkeye Youth Development Fund was established by 11 year old fundraisers Anika Parr and Helena Burger who have raised $7000 during the past three summers from biking, hiking and bake sales. These girls are right on target because these adaptive organizations have a real need for this type of handcycle in kid biking programs.

“Overall, youth are an underserved population in off-road handcycling, due largely to the lack of available equipment. The addition of a ReActive Adaptations youth offroad handcycle will open up the sport to the numerous clients OAS already serves through summer and winter programs as well as those we have not yet worked with.” said Pat Addabbo, Oregon Adaptive Sports Program Director.

Teton Adaptive Sports recently took their Wildcat to the 2017 Wydaho Mountain Bike Rendezvous at the Grand Targhee Resort where it was used by young mountain bikers on off road trails.
