Equipment Grant for Joyce Cagnon
November 30, 2016Joyce L. Cagnon grew up with a passion for skiing and a love of country. When she was injured while on deployment in Afghanistan in October 2007, her skiing future became uncertain. Enduring two years of rehab then luckily discovering adaptive sports and wounded warrior programs, Joyce was able to return to the slopes.
However since then, unfortunate skiing injuries have added to her injuries sustained in combat so Joyce began looking for adaptive equipment that would give her the thrill of skiing without putting strain on these previous injuries. Last February she discovered the ski-bike and recently she applied for an equipment grant through GoHawkeye. She wrote, “This grant would not only improve the quality of my life but for others as well. My goal is to help others with disabilities get out on the snow using a ski-bike.”
GoHawkeye is excited to grant the $2,200 request and provide her choice…a Stalmach Rocky Berg custom ski-bike package. The ski-bike is a wonderful piece of equipment that helps many people enjoy the benefits of outdoor winter recreation, especially those living with disabilities. We admire Joyce’s service to country, passion for skiing and dedication to help others as well as her desire to become an ambassador for adaptive sports. Ride on, Joyce!
If I could do a fraction, for less fortunate people than us,that Hawkeye has done since our respective retirements, I’d be pretty thrilled with myself. Keep up the fantastic work my friend, and as always,I’m sorry,LOL.
Thanks Ron!
